A Letter To My Students: Past, Present, and Future – big dreams

I can’t believe this time has come.

My theme for our Art classroom this year was “Capture Your Dreams.”   I truly believe my job as a teacher is to teach my students that they can accomplish anything.   The job of a teacher is so much bigger than the curriculum or subject matter.   I promised myself, no matter what, I would always show my students they can do anything they put their mind to.   Not every artist is starving, not every athlete ends their career in high school.

Now it is time for me to teach them this ultimate lesson by example.

I’m incredibly excited to announce that I’m officially taking my business full-time.

While I know that I’m going to miss the kids, I know in my heart this is the BEST thing I can ever do for them or teach them.   I don’t want to teach them that I had this dream of being an Entrepreneur, but I only did it half way……   I want to teach them that I had this big dream and I made it 100% happen.

I’m not special, I’m just a girl with big dreams.  Dreams and goals: to be my own boss, goals to make my own schedule, goals to never miss Gracie’s games or her birthday.   I built this business from the ground up.   Working nights, balancing my day job as a teacher, and being a new mom.     I have never been so excited and terrified at the same time.   Failure is not an option, my family is depending on me.   But THIS is what I have worked for, this is the ultimate goal.   I have done all the research, prepared everything I can possibly prepare.  Most importantly I have prepared my mind, my worth ethic, my self-discipline.  I have proven to myself, if I can make this business work off a few hours a day…… just imagine what I can accomplish when it is full-time.

So to my students:
It is ok if you have no idea what you want to do.  Just follow what makes you happy, and fulfilled, and proud of yourself.   If you always follow those three things you will find success.   There are no limits to what you can do.   NEVER listen to anyone who says you can’t.
You. Can. Do. Anything.  So be great, be passionate, be kind.

So many more blogs to come about my story and my journey.  But for now I have a few more weeks with my students and I’m going to soak it up and cry happy and sad tears on graduation day.

Thank you to all my students, athletes, and colleagues at Ocean Lakes who have made the past 9 years of my life truly amazing.  After all, you brought me to my husband.   Dolphin Family Always.
