Dropping off Gracie – Bittersweet moments that make us better

If you know me well then you probably have a hard time picturing me as the stay-at-home type.   This is true.   While Gracie and I have rocked out our summer eating Cheerios, taking wagon rides, and hitting the park….. it is really hard for me!   I rely on my Mark’s family to give me work breaks here and there, and I often have to sacrifice family time in the evenings with Mark to get work done.    He has been constantly pushing me to go a head and use day care during the summer.    Any mother knows how hard this is…. Really, drop my baby off with someone else when I am capable?   It is a really hard thing to swallow.     But the bottom line is, it is really good for Gracie and really good for me too.    Gracie needs to stay social during the summer so that when I go back to work it doesn’t hit her like a ton of bricks!    She loves playing with other kids, especially her cousin Kevin, and all the kids at Tippity Taap Childcare.  Sometimes I think playing with them can stimulate her more than I can 🙂   We are so grateful for our friend Tambre who owns Tippity Taap…she does a great job with Gracie, and I’m so impressed with her and how hard she works all the time!

Because Mark’s job is so demanding, every other week me and Gracie are on our own 6/7 days.   We don’t really live a M-F life around here!   So my perfect work life balance is when I can drop Gracie off two days and really bust out some serious work for my business.   One day I will master getting all the house work done too…..yikes!    I’m lucky just to stay on top of dishes and laundry around here.    This summer has been a really good taste of working full-time from home, and it is not easy.   I love it yes!   But it is unpredictable and brings so many challenges AND joys!

So while I feel that bit if guilt for dropping Gracie off, it will make me a much happier mama tonight when the 3 of us can spend some quality time for once!

Here is Gracie rocking out her first ponytail/palm-tree/whale sprout!   Whatever you want to call it, it is CUTE!!!
