5 Reasons you need a Wolfpack – masterminds for photographers
Studies show you should have 5 people in your life that you can dive deep and talk business with. Five people who understand you, lift you up, and make you better. My husband read that and related it to golf. He started naming off his golf buddies…. like ok I get it. So insert your passion or favorite thing where I put the word business. You might understand too. As photographers and creative entrepreneurs our business is often our favorite thing. Of course there are tasks we don’t enjoy, but for the most part we did this whole “thing” because its built around what we love and are passionate about.
The more years I put in the books the more I have realized how true this statement is. I realized I would NOT be here right now if I didn’t have my people…. my wolf-pack. And that pack has changed over the years, it may not always remain the same…that is OKAY! But the important part remains…. those women in my life have made a HUGE Impact on whatever success I may have today.
I broke that down into FIVE big reasons why we all need a wolfpack.
A wolfpack is what I call a group of like-minded women who can dig deep into business conversation. Who make each other better. A wolfpack is more than just a casual lunch date, it is a business minded lifestyle.
- You can learn from others. Sometimes this can actually save you money. You might invest time or money in a group, but you all share knowledge, hacks, and tips with each other. So now you don’t have to invest in that course or workshop, because your new business bff can help you out.
- Everyone is invested….. These ladies count on you to show up, its important. Paid group or not, you need other women who are SERIOUS about your success; and you need to be invested in their success as well. So you show up in a way you might not show up for yourself. It is a commitment, and that is a GOOD thing if you want to move the needle forward in that dream of yours.
- A chance to be SEEN. We all want exposure right? Well a mastermind aka wolfpack opens doors that you might not even imagine! Once you are nicely bonded with the other ladies in your group you might guest blog, share shout-outs, and leverage each other’s audiences to get your name out there.
Fun Fact: Women in my mastermind are now being guest experts in one of my programs…. And visa versa! I’d much rather pick women I know, trust, and love, than find random experts. It gives me a chance to give back and provide them with opportunities to be visible. - A mastermind aka wolfpack can give you instant confidence. Talking with others about your ideas, people who “get it,” can really boost your momentum. Sometimes we just need that person that says “YES” that is a great idea, run with it, to give ourselves permission. We feel more confident when we have a wolfpack backing us up. It is that simple.
- You can get MORE done. Goal setting is hard. We get distracted by shiny objects, or we set unrealistic goals, or maybe we don’t even set goals. Having a wolfpack will help you set realistic goals AND achieve them. The accountability piece is huge.
I didn’t find my wolfpack by chance. I found them because I invested in opportunities to surround myself with like-minded women. If you want to quit your day job, don’t rely on the people at your day job to encourage you. Find a wolfpack doing what YOU want to do.
Another powerful quote says that “You ARE the average of the five people you spend the most time with.”
