I remember my first year in business like it was yesterday. I will never allow myself to forget. My first year I drove 6 hours to shoot a wedding for donation only. And you know what, I love that couple to this day. They were happy with their photos, and I was blessed they took a chance on me.
Frankly my first year I was “that photographer” that more experienced photographers roll their eyes at… “Oh I lost business because they found someone cheaper”……But weren’t we all “that photographer” at some point??? Didn’t we all start somewhere? I never really looked at it like that, and I still don’t. And honestly, I get pretty darn offended when people say that someones pictures will suck just because they are new. I was new once and I’m pretty sure we all were. No one becomes good over night.
Even though I’m not that new girl anymore, I still love like I’m new, I appreciate all my clients as if they are that first playing dollar. I love this job, I love people, and I love helping others.
If you are worried about what others are doing or charging you are not only loosing valuable time that you could be spending making yourself more awesome, but you will carry negative energy. #YUK
I remember what it was like.
I will always remember. And I will always be grateful for my hero’s along the way who helped us new hungry photographers. I will always pay it forward. I will always live a life full of gratitude.
