I got some GREAT blogging ideas from simply asking what people are interested in on Facebook! Thanks friends!!! So I have been super organized with my Categories ever since I got my fresh new blog…. so I decided to start an “Ask Elizabeth” category. Not because I’m bombarded with people who want to ask me stuff…. but I just feel like it suited these awesome topics…..Awesome things I wouldn’t think of on my own!
There were a few about the Holidays that I thought would make for a good bloggy post <3
What is it like capturing moments for families over the holidays?… What are you favorite holiday traditions? How are you incorporating them into your little family.
Ahhhh…..I love Christmas time…. I always have! My mother made Christmas SO special in my house growing up, that I just want to live up to her awesome holiday spirit. It really just brings such great feelings of happiness to me when Thanksgiving hits, and through New Years. I love it! So naturally photographing clients around the holidays is so cool. I know that these image are going to be shared with their family and friends and used for this special and happy time! What better to be thankful for than family.
I only take a limited number of family sessions a month, so I shot less “families” than ever this year. BUT I always make room for my long-time clients, and friends. I love them so much, how could I not share such a joyful photo shoot with them? It has been a busy December and I’m just so grateful. I get more emotional about how thankful I am for my clients around this time, and when I’m shooting them this time of year. I know that sounds cheesy, but it is the truth. This time of year photographers do a lot of reflecting on the year and we set goals for next year. I wouldn’t change a thing about 2014, and I have all my awesome clients to thank for that! PLUS I LOVE the winter light! There is something awesome about shooting in the cold and crisp air!
Our Holiday Traditions include the following: Putting up a REAL tree, usually later than I would like, haha today for example. I have lots mix/match decorations, some are passed down from my family, some are dollar bin at target lol. We always have people over on Christmas Eve. My parents did this while I was growing up and I always looked forward to it, it really helped pass the time when I couldn’t wait for Christmas morning! So I wanted to carry on that tradition for Gracie. It is super casual (I’m not much of a cook or entertainer), just snacks, beer, no fancy invitations, just friends stopping by. I spend a lot of time in December bouncing up and down with excitement bothering my husband LOL! Christmas day is all family, presents, and food. All about the kiddos!
