So the idea of taking on two weddings in a weekend was super overwhelming at first. I had to seek a few pep talks from friends and mentors. It was a perfect first double wedding experience because Friday I shot a small elopement and Saturday a more traditional wedding; so it was a great warm up for the fall when I have two much bigger weddings back to back.
Not only were both weddings great, BUT I will have them both edited and delivered within a week of shooting them! That is HUGE. I’m so proud of myself for managing my time, planning out the week, and busting my bum. This means I can go into my wedding this coming weekend all caught up and ready to bring my A-game!!
So if you have been hesitant on taking on a busy weekend this is my pep talk that you can totally do it!! A few tips that helped me survive:
-Get all your gear ready early. Use LISTS to make sure it is all packed and ready to go. (Thank you Amanda my amazing mentor for this tip)
-Bring amazing helpers (Thank you Heidi) or just be ok with asking for help. Thank you Husband for accommodating, thank you Jenna for babysitting, thank you Rachel for also helping with Gracie! I could never do this alone!
-Plan everything on the post-wedding side of things. I mapped out my week: when I would edit, deliver, and start packing my gear for the next weekend. Make it a priority to stick to this.
-Get proper rest and nutrition. Sounds crazy, but this is big. Sunday I went to bed at 7pm, didn’t do any work after coming off a double wedding weekend. I woke up Monday recharged and ready…. do whatever it takes to keep stress levels low.
I’m not perfect by any means, but I am giving myself a little pat on the back (more like a high five and ninja kick) for surviving my first double header. Friday’s elopement won’t be shared for a while but Lisa and Joe’s wedding will hit the blog next week. But for now here are a few of my favorite sneak peeks!
Have a GREAT weekend and thanks for stopping by the blog <3
