I have been trying to put together this blog post all week, but our world has just been a little bit off balance this week. We have had some crazy ups and downs, but my little family has come together and is doing just fine. Thanks everyone for the kind words and support, for my business and for Puck.
Here’s the break down of the emotional roller coaster:
Friday – Announced that I’m taking my business full time. Puck was getting very ill. He lost his vision and his ability to make it outside on his own to use the bathroom. He didn’t even come to us to cuddle and Mark started having to carry him up the stairs.
Saturday – Had a great day with Gracie and met with a CPA to get all my business plans in order.
Sunday – Shot the most amazing wedding, so incredibly blessed!! It was a great day in Kitty Hawk NC.
Monday – Dealing with the loss of a dear friend from work, and we lost our sweet boy Puck. Everyone at work is suffering from the loss of such an amazing co-worker. Kim will be missed. I have been pretty speechless about the whole thing…struggling for words good enough for such an amazing woman. Kim always asked about Gracie and she always had the kindest things to say about my photography business. She was easily one of the sweetest and most genuine people I have met during my time at Ocean Lakes. I can’t help but hope that she finds Puck and gets a kick out of his wrinkly face.
Tuesday- A great day for business, but a very empty house. Mark got out to play some golf, but we are missing Puck and trying to make sense of it all.
What a whirlwind!! I feel like I just wrote the blog post about Kaylee. Having Puck around was really helping me cope with missing my girl. Puck got sick fast, and it really snuck up on us. We knew he was old for his breed, but it just happened so fast. A week ago he was ok, old, but ok. We are now a dog-less family.
Mark and I just keep thinking about the apartment on shore drive, and how Kaylee and Puck had some really great years there. It was just the 4 of us, they got to sleep on all the furniture and take lots of walks in the salty air.
We love you Puck, thanks for all the laughs, licks, snores, and snuggles.
Just When Gracie Started to Say Your Name…
Just when Gracie started to say your name a terrible sickness took you over,
It all happened so fast and unexpectedly, but we knew letting you go was right,
You knew this too, that it was time to go into that calming light.
For you were becoming a dog we knew you didn’t want to become,
Your memory will stay with all of us, forever in our hearts,
All of the funny days and laughs you gave, trouble caused by your smarts,
You were the best dog, Puck, white head and paws, brindle and handsome,
So many friends we have met along the way, but never one like you,
No other dog can compare to the things you would specifically do.
It was a great day to be alive, and yet a gorgeous one to leave us in peace,
Sun shining through the clouds and Kaylee-Sue looking down from above
Welcoming you across that rainbow bridge, with a smile and all of her love.
We knew you missed her; the reunion puts smiles on all of our faces.
To the end of the world we’ll miss you, we can so promise you this,
And that you’ll be remembered for your better days, all of your happiness and bliss.
It’s a goodbye for now but we’ll see you again one day.
Until then, on that sunny windowsill, your picture we’ll keep in that blue frame,
Just so Gracie can pass by, see your sweet face, and keep saying your name.
