I’m going on Vacation tomorrow! Whooohooo!!! I’m sad that my hubby has to stay behind and work, but I’m going to have a blast with my mom, dad, and aunt in Topsail Beach! My dad is gonna be surrounded by women and he will probably love every minute!
I will be gone from Tuesday – Friday. I will be checking email in the mornings, but probably minimal facebook other than sneak peeks from my homecoming session tomorrow. I have a very technology friendly family, but I’m really excited to put some of it away and actually read something with pages and relax 🙂
Ok so big deal, I’m going on vacation… what changes am I talking about??? Well they are not exactly “changes” but more like a change in my focus area. The time is coming to choose my specialty areas. While my news feed and business has been totally booming with amazing families, I will not be booking as many families in the future. I need to focus my business on where I want it to end up…..what type of photos give me that butterfly and firework feeling….. what area allows me to be the most creative in ways that I desire. What photos make my heart sing while I’m editing….What kind of identity to I want Elizabeth Henson Photos to have?
But I want to be clear that not only do I love working with families, but I LOVE having happy clients and running a good business. That’s why I have always “grandfathered” my clients into their price, and I will always take care of my repeat clients. After all, these are the amazing people who have supported me and my business since day one. I look forward to many more years taking pictures of many of these people who have become friends. Some of my family shoots have helped me get where I am today, I have a family shoot being published next month, this is not goodbye to that part of the industry. I just can no longer fill my books with just that specific clientele or I will slowly stop growing in the direction I intended. So instead of 8 family shoots a month, it might be more like 1-2 (just an example).
Also something very important coming up is my maternity leave. I’m due October 30th. So I will not be booking in October other than close clients who understand that I will be huge and uncomfortable. Most of these already penciled in somewhere early in the month. I plan on taking November off, and December will have minimal holiday shoots, we all know that’s a great time of year for pictures 🙂
So I know its sad to announce and so crazy when I look at the calendar but I am about 90% booked for the rest of 2013! I have only a few slots open and I will be reserving those for my specialty areas which are the following:
Couples (engagements, anniversaries, etc)
Women (including maternity)
Seniors
Homecomings
Events and Weddings (but those are already booked for 2013)
I will talk much more about this when I start building my 2014 calendar. I’m REALLY excited to see my business grow!! And I’m excited to announce my work that will be published in the upcoming months. Amazing things are happening and I really have all my clients to thank for that.
