Summer is here!  4 Days in a row now, I pre-blogged and set it to post at 6am the following day.   Big FIST PUMP for me!   I have been really wanting to blog more and step my game up.  I’m so excited to focus on that this summer!   I have learned so much and in the middle of this growth spurt I think it is such a good time to create a new habit of the Monday-Friday blog posts!  I have some really exciting new blog series coming out this summer, my blog and website will be getting a facelift, and lots of other exciting stuff going on around here!  Whooohooo!

So in the midst of working like crazy the past few months…. I have read books, and watched Simon Sinek, all about finding your WHY.   (go check him out if you have no idea what I’m talking about)

The reality is that there are a ton of people who take pretty pictures, a TON.   But photography, now a days, it not just about pretty pictures, it is about the overall experience.   Just like running this business has become so much more to me than taking pretty pictures.   That is just a small part of it.    I have truly fallen in love with my clients, and with this whole crazy life of running a business.  It is all so fun, rewarding, and fascinating to me.   I recently started asking myself the big WHY…  you know we are all supposed to start with the WHY when we start a business.   My WHY is very simple.    Photography is amazing, but photography is this incredible platform to do what I really love, all packaged up into one profession.   Focusing on the “why” I do this has really helped lead me to this current growth spurt without even knowing it was happening!

Here’s my WHY:   I get to be outside, I get to be creative, and most importantly I get to provide something really special and awesome to amazing people.   Which means that I get to know people, and hang out with them, and tell a story about their life.  I love this job because I can care about these people, and they are ok with it.  Photography is not like getting a massage where you just cross your fingers that the massage therapist won’t talk to much…. it is our job to get you comfortable in front of the camera…. so like it or not we are gonna become pals! 🙂   It is all just so amazing.   And so ME.  I have never been so busy, and had so much trouble managing my time, but I have also never been so truly happy and fulfilled.

I remember two years ago when I started this journey, I remember admitting that I had no idea where it was taking me, no real intention!     I certainly had no idea that I would come this far!   So two years later, here I am so excited to continue this journey and continue to grow and surprise myself.
