Finding the courage – Love what you do!

So I stayed up an extra hour last night and wrote a whole blog post………but it was totally boring.    It was one of those blog posts just to get one written.   I talked a little about the new website and I thanked all my friends out there who read my blog…. but I just wasn’t happy with it.   So I went to bed and decided I would try again during Gracie’s nap today.   So lets see if I even finish haha.    Forgive any grammar mistakes I’m going to move fast!

So for better blog posts, I think I need to stick to writing things that I’m really passionate about!    I often get asked how I got the courage to start.   Or if I ask people what is the one thing stopping them… they always say fear of failure.    Fear of not doing well, or fear of not getting where they want to go.    Well…. if you don’t try at all aren’t you already failing?

For some reason I have never been afraid to try new things…. that does not mean I’m not terrified every time I post a blog, or post a new picture… because I still am!   But I guess my fear of not trying was always more powerful than the fear of what others will think or say.    I attribute a lot of this attitude to playing sports and my upbringing…. but I’ll blog about that another day 🙂

While there are so many business things that I do not know, or do not have together, the one thing I can say I have mastered is my work ethic.    And while paperwork, and taxes, and book keeping are all VERY important…… the backbone to actually building a business is always going to be the amount of work you are willing to put in.   If your hobby, passion, or potential business is not growing you really need to look at the amount of work you are doing.   Are you spending every spare second thinking about it, working on it, learning about it?   Are you having to actually STOP yourself from working to do other tasks in your life?    It doesn’t always have to be that way, but to build one from scratch you are gonna have to spend every possible minute working, learning, improving….. its like an obsession, or an itch you can’t scratch!

So what I’m saying is maybe it doesn’t always boil down to courage…. maybe you just have not found that thing yet that you are passionate ENOUGH about to sacrifice this type of work.    When you love something, and are determined enough, it is really hard not to do it.   I have heard some really awesome ideas from everyday people… ideas that I know could make them rich if they made them a reality….. but sometimes we just flop around with these great ideas and have no idea how to actually DO IT!   But the truth is you can always find out how to do it if you look hard enough!

My goal in life is not only to be a successful business myself, but to be sure that Gracie knows that she can do ANYTHING she wants.   She does not have to punch a clock, or work just for insurance, or retirement… she can work for herself and make more money in the long run.   The most important thing is to love what you do, love it with all your heart, love it so much that you don’t want to spend time doing anything else…. that work and play feel the same!      It is possible, not just for photographers, but for anyone!     Trust me.  My book keeping skills are not amazing, but I know enough to know that at this rate I will be making more money with my business than I make being a teacher in less than 3 years of launching the business.   Sad but true.    Pay teachers more!!!…..that can be another blog post lol..

Just imagine the world if more people LOVED their job….. just saying <3
