How I met my Husband – Our love story

I’m often asked how I met my Husband Mark.   There is not much of a dramatic story but I decided to share it anyway 🙂   He just had his 29th birthday, so why not.  Happy Birthday Love!

In 2009 Mark and I were both working at the high school, where I still work.    At the time, I was a permanent sub, so I worked in the building every day, but always had different jobs.   A teacher in his classroom was out on an extended leave, so I was placed in her position, where I spent at least half of the day with Mark and his students.   I already knew him a little because we were both coaches.   Mark was an assistant football coach, and I was the field hockey coach.   We became friends first.

I guess eventually we started flirting, but I didn’t really catch on for a while.   Summer came, and by then we were hanging out 24/7.   Coaching, both trying to advance in our career, it was a pretty fun time in our life.

Most of you probably don’t know that my husband is almost 4 years younger than me.   I honestly did not think it would last.    How could a 23-year-old really be interested in the same things?  Well I was wrong…..I was actually the one with the commitment issues, he finally said “Call me boyfriend or I’m done”  LOL.     I gave in, still unsure if he was going to stick around.    Well less than two years later when he accepted a coaching position at Hampden-Sydney College, he asked me to marry him.

On the beach of Corolla we were catching a quick breath of salty air all dressed for dinner.   He said… “you look beautiful, but you are missing something”   he then pulled out the most perfect ring and asked me to marry him.   It was a done deal from that point on.   Mark moved back from Farmville right before the wedding and Virginia Beach is our permanent home.

I know I don’t talk about my husband or family that much when it comes to business.    But I have no doubt that I would not have had the courage to start a business if it was not for his support and encouragement.   Mark never holds me back from doing anything I want to do, that is a HUGE reason why our marriage is successful.   We may only get a Friday night together like once every two weeks, but our crazy little life is working out pretty well.    Somehow I work two jobs, got to my yoga classes, and I still have quality time with my daughter and Husband.   Today we went to the park and Gracie laughed so hard she barfed a little.    Sheesh, that girl!
