Katie & Landon’s Elopement – Fort Monroe – Virginia Photographer

I’m excited to finally share images from Katie & Landon’s elopement!   I know I’m going to get all emotional writing this one because I have really grown to love these two.   We shot their engagement session in Yorktown back in November I think it was…. I quickly became attached to this hilarious and fun-loving couple.   Katie and Landon were originally scheduled to get married this September.   Katie contacted me in March letting me know that Landon’s health was declining and they would be eloping in April.   Both diabetics, but I didn’t realize how serious….until Katie’s email.   Landon was starting to have kidney failure and would need to start dialysis.   Naturally, knowing how much I adore this couple, I knew I was going to do anything I could possibly do to help.   So on the most beautiful day in April I drove out to Fort Monroe to photograph this absolutely perfect wedding!

Landon didn’t skip a beat.  They were so happy, laid back, and were really able to enjoy such a special day.  Landon hand picked the flowers for Katie’s bouquet from Mercer’s florist.  Katie’s mother purchased the rest of the flowers from Costco and Lowes and made her own arrangements.   I had a great time getting to know their family, and being a part of such a small wedding.   They had florals, bubbles, and plenty of love to go around.  We did some romantic pictures at Fort Monroe following the ceremony.

We still have a bigger wedding to look forward to next year, and I know these two have some amazing things going on.   I’m just so incredibly honored to be their photographer and friend.   I’m pretty sure if we lived closer I would totally be trying to hang out with them!   If you know me at all, you know how much I love a good laugh, and it is so easy to come by when I’m hanging out with Katie & Landon.   I love y’all, mean it!

Katie, THANK YOU for always taking the time to say thank you to me, for always making me feel so appreciated, and more like a friend than a vendor.  You have no idea how much your words mean to me, even though I would be honored to work with you without them.  Your kind words and love notes will be treasured forever, as a constant reminder to me why this job is so great and so much bigger than me.   MUAH!!!
