So some of you might remember that August 10th was supposed to be my first workshop. So after not getting the attendance that I hoped I decided to change gears. I had a choice….. I had plenty of time to keep pushing the workshop on facebook and to friends, but instead I decided to open it up to other photographers in the area as a styled shoot instead.
I didn’t want to feel like I was forcing the workshop. I didn’t feel discouraged, more just motivated to make good use of my time. I had blocked off this whole day for a photography event, I wanted it to be awesome, regardless if I was making a profit. I wanted to be able to practice something, network with other photogs, and duhhhh have fun.
Of course I still have the desire to teach photography, and I’m sure I will find productive ways to incorporate that into my business. A few people have inquired about mentoring or lessons, and yes I would love to help so never hesitate to contact me!
So on to the styled shoot…. if I can call it that for real haha. Lindsay is a stylist for Stella & Dot, she’s amazing at styling in general and I keep pushing her to break into photography land and team up with some photographers in the area. Here is her facebook page. Lindsay supplied all the props and she modeled for us. Our cupcakes were made by the lovely Tiffany Joyce Photography. We shot at the Chesapeake arboretum. It was not exactly fancy, but it was a great opportunity to practice and thanks to all the lovely photographers who came out, especially in the rainy wet weather!
Enjoy the pics and feel free to leave some feedback! Since this was a shoot just for practice, I got a little more experimental and tried some new things. Isn’t Lindsay just beautiful!!!!!!
