Money In – Money Out; The Gold Boxes

Oh man…. today hurt my brain.   I did some serious number crunching, figuring out some major purchases I need, and figuring out how to make them happen.   Let me just say that I’m very good with my money, but I’m not exactly a spread sheet user and penny counter.   I’m a big picture person.   So I knew I needed a few things before weddings kick off.   I need to upgrade my 50mm, add a flash to my arsenal, and finally get the mega 70-200mm.   Whoa.   Well I just used the strategy I always do.   Look at my calendar and add up how much money I have coming in, crunch all my expenses etc.   So I’m on track to have the new purchases paid off by June 1.   YES!  Fist pump over here!!!   My 2015 brides are going to have the most quality lenses and I can’t wait!   My wedding bag will finally be complete…..for now LOL.

So why am I bothering to blog about this?   Well because frankly this is my 3rd year and I’m still spending pretty close to what I’m making.  So crazy right!   Running a business is so hard and takes some serious dedication.   That money I just spent could have taken us on a family vacation, or remodeled our bathroom, or a lot of things for the family.   BUT I’m focusing on my business in order to accomplish my bigger goals and best serve my clients.

Don’t worry, my family does not go without.   We take little weekend trips, and we are as happy as we can be.   My husband knows I’m smart with my purchases, and while he may tease me when he sees that gold Nikon box arrive, I know he’s supportive and hopefully proud too.

Because here is the awesome part…..  when I look at my equipment, and all of those gold Nikon boxes…..I feel so gratified.   I can’t believe that MY hard work has actually funded all of this crazy stuff that I need for this business and to help it grow.   I did that.  From the ground up.  I didn’t get a small business loan, I didn’t take money from my families funds, I literally made every penny and invested it back into myself.

And honestly, I’m not sure anything feels better than investing in something I feel so passionate about.

Dreams are worth investing in.
