Mark and I have never been without Gracie simultaneously. Our jobs usually keep us pretty busy, not to mention we are naturally total homebodies. Cara and Sam’s wedding weekend was the perfect reason for us to get away and break our baby separation anxiety! This trip really showed us that there should be no shame in taking a little adult time away from our baby girl. We had an absolute blast.
We stayed at the beautiful Smith Mountain Lake about an hour outside of Lynchburg, VA. Mark and I were so thrilled to celebrate Sam and Cara’s wedding. I was lucky enough to shoot Sam & Cara’s engagement photos, but the best part about this wedding was the fact that I was a GUEST and got to dance the night away! The entire trip was so eventful; we met so many awesome people. I have not had this much fun, on an adult level, since Gracie has been born: a party boat, a beautiful Lake house, plenty to eat and drink, and amazing company! Of course we missed our little Gracie, but the adult conversation was so refreshing for both us!
This was by no means a weekend of work, but I did pull my camera out for fun during the rehearsal and our day on the lake. Sam and Cara are such great friends of ours, and I really wanted to document a few things to thank them and their incredibly generous families for having us out.
I can’t wait to see the wedding day images by the super talented Sam Stroud!
Here’s our sweet Gracie girl the day we got home!
