Time to Blog about Erin <3 A year later and she's inspiring me! - Hampton Roads Photographers

I can not believe it has been a YEAR since Erin contacted me wanting to pick my brain about photography.  We already knew each other through friends, but this was the beginning of such an awesome friendship.   The first thing I did was send her a  my go-to photographers that inspire me!   (Amanda Hedgepeth and Sharon Elizabeth).    Then, Erin and I met for a little Panera date, and I brought her on a shoot with me.   Her eyes were big and her heart was open!   It reminded me so much of when I first picked up my camera!   I didn’t even really call this “mentoring” but over time and reflecting back I guess you can call it something like that?   BUT NOW a YEAR later…  it is like Erin is a peer to me.   Her business is booming and her heart is in family photography.   That works out great by the way because I can send her business knowing she does a GREAT job!!!   She has improved so much!  I just can’t get over how proud of her I am and how excited for her I am!

Yes I helped Erin, but she has also helped me.   She has been there to tell me I’m too hard on myself…. I think every conversation we have she tells me that lol.   She always helps push me to follow my dreams of mentoring and helping others.   Some days (like last night) I leave a meeting with her and I feel so inspired and refreshed!  Isn’t that amazing how helping someone can go full circle?!

That brings me to the amazing blog post by Katelyn James yesterday!

Who Should Be Teaching

I felt like she was talking to me!  I mean she’s an amazing writer, so I’m sure we all feel like that reading her blogs <3

I AM new in business, but I have always responded to people who email with questions….(those emails actually make my day because I can’t believe they want to learn something from ME).    While I can not teach much about running a successful business (because I’m new and all that stuff is crazy over my head)  I CAN teach a lot about working hard, chasing your dreams, and making them come true, even if it is not photography!   I could help you take good pictures, however, I still want mine to be way better than they are now.   I’m not perfect and I have so far to go.   But I LOVE this journey I’m on and I LOVE helping others discover their own journey.

Amazing leaders in this industry helped me on my journey!   And all I’m doing is paying that foreward <3    Erin THANK YOU for helping me discover this passion for helping others and for trusting my crazy advise a year ago!  You are doing amazing and inspire me every day!    Keep going girlfriend!

Insert cute selfie here that we always forget to take because we talk too much <3
