So I know that I made the BIG announcement a little while back that I am now full-time!  No more day job, I’m my own boss and that is it!   I’m often asked the “why” and “how did you know it was time”  type of questions…..or just the plain “HOW DID YOU DO IT”.    Well today I’m excited to share with you my 3 things that were deal breakers  as far as making one of the biggest decisions of my life.    So if you are on the fence, maybe this will help you!

1.  This was the big one.  I needed FULL control over my schedule.   Not just part-time control, or working my business around another schedule.   Meetings, events, consults, shoots, there is SO much more to business than just shooting weddings on Saturdays.   I FINALLY realized that I needed to be the girlboss and control my availability.    I was tired of missing things because of my day job.

2.  I had a choice:  to grow or stay the same?   I had hit a point where I knew that I had maximized my work/life balance.  There was literally no more hours available to me to GROW my business.  Yes I could shoot, edit, deliver, repeat.   But to do any extra projects was almost impossible and they kept getting put on the back burner.   I realized my day job was slowing my growth.

3.  I will never know unless I try.   I know that sounds silly….. but starting a business is a huge risk.   A risk that many people will never take.  I knew that my dream to go full-time had taken over all my desires and what I wanted for myself in the future.  I had proven to myself I was committed AND that I could bring in some money; now it is simply time to find out.   The longer I put off doing it, the longer it would take me to really know if I can have this life.  So why wait?    I will never know unless I try.   I’m aware of all the “worst case scenarios” and frankly, I was way more afraid of living a life where I didn’t try, than trying and failing.

So what is new now that I have been full-time for four weeks?

-I’m continuing to pursue my new division of business…. Entrepreneur Coaching for creative women.

AND I did a one on one mentoring session with the amazing Chelsea LaVere!  She’s so inspiring and rocks the multiple business hats like no other!

-Lots of summer events, check them out!
-I have had WAY more family time, exercise time, and time to eat donuts.
