This week on the podcast I have YouTube strategist for creatives Trena Little. I have loved getting to know Trena over the last few years and you guys are going to love her, too. In this episode, we’ll talk to Trena about how you can leverage video and YouTube for your business.

Build Your Community with YouTube

Not only is YouTube a great way to market your business, but it’s a great way to build your community, which is exactly what we’re all about here! With video, it’s so easy to feel like you know the person who is posting the videos and the comments are very active. When Trena first got started on YouTube, she started building a community of people around the videos she was posting about her pregnancy as a way to connect with other new moms.

As her videos got more popular and her community got larger, more and more people were asking questions about how she had done certain things with her videos. That was a sign to her that she needed to combine her marketing talents with her video creating talent and educate others on how to start a channel and build their audience.

How Can Pivoting to YouTube Impact Your Business?

If you’re struggling to be seen on Instagram or other social channels, it might be time to pivot to YouTube. YouTube can have big impacts on your business using the audience you already have. One of Trena’s clients launched an affiliate program using a YouTube strategy. The YouTube videos promoted this affiliate program while she was on maternity leave and she was able to bring in 60k in revenue with a mostly YouTube strategy. By driving traffic to the videos through their newsletter and adding those same YouTube videos on Facebook, they were able to drive significant revenue despite having a modest amount of YouTube subscribers.

That client had a large email list, but even for clients with smaller lists they’re able to drive traffic and revenue using a YouTube strategy.

You Don’t Need a Huge Audience, You Just Need the Right Audience

You know I’ve said this before, but Trena shares my belief that you don’t need a huge audience, you just need the right audience. With YouTube, you can make money with a small subscriber base as long as they are an active and engaged community. Trena said that she was able to maintain a full client list with a small subscriber base.
