My pal Holly of Just Dandy Events asked me months ago if I would be a part of her branding shoot! What a great way to celebrate her business anniversary and really hone in on her brand. She put together some fabulous details in her color palette and style! I know she worked hard on this for months and the images are going to really give her some great content for marketing.
It took me a while, like years, to really wrap my head around branding in general. However, once it clicked, everything comes so much more naturally now! Sometimes it just takes realizing that your “brand” is SOOO much more than your logo and colors. Branding really embodies everything that your business embraces, and it many cases WE as people are a huge part of our brand. Especially in an industry like wedding planning or photography. We sell a service rather than a product, so it is so crucial for clients to get that feel of our entire experience. Now that I have really learned how to embrace branding, I enjoy it SO much more than ever before!
Working with clients and other vendors on their brand is so much fun! If you have not had great images taken specifically for you and your brand than you should think about it! It was FUN and so productive! AND so creative right!?
I asked Holly a few questions about the shoot and I’m excited to share her perspective:
So what made you want to do a branding shoot?
I realized that the images I was using on social media and on my website were all from very different weddings I had coordinated. While they were all beautiful images, none of them represented my brand at all. I wanted cohesive images that stood for Just Dandy Events.
How do you plan on using the images?
I’m really excited to have the images to use in my advertising and on social media and my website moving forward. To have my own branded set of “stock images” is so valuable.
What was the best part about the shoot?
The best part of the shoot was having total design control. I’ve coordinated around 15 shoots over the last year and a half and had the best time doing them. It’s always a great time collaborating with other vendors and stretching our creative wings a bit together. But this shoot was different in that it was almost 100% my own creative vision and it was so gratifying to see the whole thing come together in the end the way I saw it in my head.
Would you recommend other businesses setting up a shoot like this to show off their brand? If so any tips?
Absolutely! My biggest tip would be to choose the right vendors. Bring people on board that you know will understand your vision and help you bring it to life. Also, choose a photographer that you are comfortable with and that knows exactly the way you want the shoot to be portrayed.
