Messy Success Episode 41: One Year Later

Questions Answered in this Episode

  • What are the key takeaways I’ve learned after one year of podcasting?
  • What are the challenges of starting a podcast?

Podcast Successes

  • Faster Connections: It’s been so much easier to connect with my audience in a quicker way. The people that listen have become a part of my community more quickly.
  • Building My Team: When I first started my podcast, I had a hard time with how much time it was taking away from the rest of my business. I was hesitant to build a team in the past because, as you know, I’m not always the most organized person! The podcast, though, is relatively straightforward. As long as I’m recording the content, it’s easy to pass off the show notes and editing to someone else. The podcast was almost like training wheels for me to get my team together.
  • Collaboration: The podcast has been a great opportunity to collaborate with other entrepreneurs.

Podcast Challenges

  • Feeling Stretched Thin: It’s always a challenge to show up everywhere we need to be. With the podcast, I can start to feel stretched thin, trying to show up everywhere I need to be.
  • Nurturing a Facebook Community is a Challenge!: The Messy Squad on Facebook has a lot of potential to be a great, active group, but I haven’t been able to dedicate as much time to it as I would like.
  • I Still Don’t Work Ahead…: It would be great if I could work on the podcast ahead of time and have three or four episodes banked for the future, but it’s just now I work. Working in real-time is what works for me.

If I Could Wave A Magic Wand…

In this episode, I also talk about some exciting changes that might be coming to my workflow (especially with the pending arrival of the newest Henson baby). I answer the question “If I could wave a magic wand, what’s one thing I would do to change my business?”
