Messy Success Episode 22 – The Ultimate Year Workshop

Questions Answered in this Episode

  • What were the most important takeaways from Elizabeth’s Ultimate Year Workshop?
  • How can a brand message help your business?

I recently held a workshop with local entrepreneurs called The Ultimate Year Workshop. This was a four-hour intensive where we really sat down and dove deep into business, but I thought it might be fun to share some of the takeaways from the workshop. Jot down some notes, do some of the brainstorming activities, and follow right along with the workshop at home.

Ultimate Year Workshop: What do you want your year and your life to look like?

When I started my business, I knew that I wanted to be a photographer and eventually leave my 9-5. I didn’t really think about what I wanted my life to look like beyond that. In 2016, when Madison was not even 3 months old, I shot a triple wedding weekend. That was right for me and my business at the time, but as my kids get older, I know that I want my business to fit into my life and not fit my life into my business. So I started mapping out my life and scaling my business to work within my wants.

The task I have for you as you follow along with the Ultimate Year Workshop at home is to plan out your perfect Monday-Sunday schedule and fit your business into it. People undervalue the power of taking a task and giving it a time frame on your schedule. It alleviates the stress and worry of when you’re getting things done.

Set Your Goals

Now, I like to think of the year as a whole and think about the big projects and goals that I want to accomplish. Write down your goals and break them down into small, actionable steps.

Determine Your Brand Message and Your Core Values

I’m not a brand expert, but I love talking about branding and how branding can make such a huge impact in your business. Figuring out your rock star statement can help you find your perfect clients. When I determined my rock star statement, it really helped clarify some things about my business for me. It can take time – maybe you don’t know who your perfect client is yet – but think about your brand message and your core values as you have those transactions where you think, “Yes! This is what I want my business to look like.”

Takeaways

  • Spending some time planning and working on your upcoming year can make a huge difference in your business.
  • Set your goals, figure out your core values, and do some big dreaming for this year!
